Becoming a Christian

I Want to be Reconciled with God
I Want to Accept Christ

To be reconciled to God a person must accept what God says is true concerning His only Son, Jesus Christ. But before you can do that, you must accept what God says is true about you. God calls you a sinner. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Do you accept that? God’s Word says, “the wages of your sin is death…” Do you accept that? This may sound a bit odd to you because why wouldn’t a person accept what God’s says about them. But that is the crux of the matter; being reconciled to God means turning away from what you thought was true and turning to what God says is true. If not, then you are essentially making God out to be a liar.

Having accepted the truth about yourself, you are now ready to accept the truth about Christ. The truth about Christ is essentially this: He is the only way to God. He said it Himself in John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.” Since He is the Way, then you must turn away from everything that you thought was a way to God. Since He is the Truth, then you must turn away from all that you thought was true about God but that doesn’t agree with Him and what His Word says. Since He is the Life, then you must turn to Him or else you will not have life. John testifies to us plainly in I John 5:11-12, “And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.” This leaves us no options; we must have the Son.

Listen carefully. God knows the truth—about you and your need for a Savior. He has always known the truth. Out of no obligation to humanity, but out of love within Himself for humanity, He sent His Son. In other words, we are in a desperate situation having broken the laws of the God of the universe and incurring the penalty for breaking those laws which is eternal death in a place called Hell. Being fully aware before hand of our situation; God in love sent His Son to pay the penalty for our sin on the Cross. Having once died, He now stands ready to receive all those who would turn to Him for salvation. This is good news. God stands ready to receive you and remove from you all your sin and iniquity, and make you His child.

Is this what you want? Then you need only to call on Him in prayer and confess Him as your Savior. Romans10:13 says, “Whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.” Verse eleven of that same chapter says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” Follow these verses now and call upon Him and you will not be disappointed.
